The Higher Institute of Civil Protection Studies (ISEPC) held the closing ceremony for the sixth class of the first aid instructor training course on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Starting on September 15, this training session brought together approximately twenty participants from ten African countries, demonstrating the institution’s continental reach and its commitment to building civil protection capacity.
This high-level training aimed to equip participants with the pedagogical and technical skills necessary to train qualified first aiders themselves. Over three weeks, the trainees completed an intensive program combining theory and practice, covering modules related to first aid standards, scenario management, assessment, and active learning applied to first aid.
In his closing remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Zouno Gérard Bambara, Director General of ISEPC, praised the trainees’ determination and emphasized the strategic importance of this training. “By certifying new instructors, we are investing in valuable human capital, capable of multiplying the impact of first aid training in their respective countries. It is through youthat our communities will be better prepared, respond more effectively, and save more lives,” he said. On behalf of the class, the trainees’ delegate, Lieutenant Moustapha Diawara, expressed his gratitude to ISEPC for the quality of the supervision they received and the spirit of sharing that characterized the training. “We are leaving not only with enhanced skills, but also with a responsibility: that of becoming credible and committed relays for training other first aid actors on the continent,” he stressed, before addressing special thanks to the supervisors and all the institution’s staff.The diversity of participants, who came from ten African countries, enriched the training with a fruitful exchange of experiences and practices. This international dimension helped establish a dynamic of cooperation and solidarity between the various civil protection bodies and institutions represented, thus reinforcing the idea that security and risk prevention are a shared challenge. In officially closing the session, the ISEPC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its role as a center of excellence in civil protection training.
The new instructors, now certified, will return to their respective countries with the mission of transmitting and popularizing lifesaving techniques. Through them, all of Africa gains in expertise and emergency response capacity.
