A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Burkinabe state via the *Société de participation minière du Burkina* (SOPAMIB), Wahgnion Gold Operations has evolved over the years into a powerful symbol of national economic sovereignty and Burkina Faso’s move to reclaim control over its extractive sector. Located in the commune of Niankorodougou, in Léraba Province, the mine proudly displays its motto: "Our resources, our future." This phrase encapsulates the ambition to transform the country's mineral wealth into a genuine driver of development for the benefit of the Burkinabe people.

In a sector where the risk of accidents is a constant concern, worker safety is an absolute priority. With this in mind, Wahgnion Gold Operations enlisted the expertise of the *Institut Supérieur d’Études de Protection Civile* (ISEPC) to equip its staff with essential first aid skills.

Over a period of approximately ten days—from June 27 to July 8, 2026—twelve staff members from the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) department underwent training in team-based first aid techniques. Through two progressive levels (PSE1 and PSE2), they acquired the necessary reflexes and skills to provide pre-hospital care to victims and manage their transport to medical facilities.

This initiative demonstrates Wahgnion Gold Operations' commitment to balancing industrial performance with social responsibility by placing employee safety at the heart of its priorities. It also reflects a broader effort to strengthen national capacity in safety and risk management, driven by Burkinabe institutions such as the ISEPC—a public administrative institution based in Ouagadougou (Avenue de Boulmiougou, 6th Arrondissement, Sector 26). By investing in the continuous training of its workforce, Wahgnion Gold Operations reaffirms, once again, that the exploitation of the country's mineral resources must go hand in hand with safety, local expertise, and sustainable development—ultimately serving the future of Burkina Faso.

At the conclusion of this training session, the Director General of the Higher Institute for Civil Protection Studies (ISEPC) expressed his gratitude to the Director General of Wahgnion Gold Operations and the entire staff for the trust placed in the institute and the commitment demonstrated.
